The discipline of writing and holding up that writing for public scrutiny through sharing is potent. Here is the first round up of daily writing from short thoughts. One-minute reads covering communications, change and creativity in management – writes Scott Guthrie.

Anne Handley, Chief Content Officer of MarketingProfs, has argued that everyone should blog (even if they don’t publish) because writing is thinking (and everyone should think).

Writing forces thoughts out into the open. Articulating ideas imposes a structure on them. Sharing this writing invites feedback. It helps us to think through the argument, to get up, walk about and to look at the issue from a different vantage point sitting in a different seat. To be prepared to back up our point-of-view.

I have started writing daily at www.shortthoughts.co via Tumblr. Short thoughts are one-minute reads about communications, change and creativity in management.

Short thoughts are not shallow thoughts. They are quick thoughts. Ones to be continued. To be expanded upon later. To be polished elsewhere. They are work in progress.

Last week Seth Godin wrote his 6000th post on his blog. Here is a round-up of my first five. I’ve got a bit of way to go.

ST 101

The social age demands transparent and open business.

Business can no longer ‘control the message’. Instead communications become amplified and shared at whim in the social age. This calls for authenticity in every action for belief-and-behaviour-led business.

Short 102

You know when you ask a colleague what they’re working on and they tell you how they’re “working on some strategies to tackle blah, blah” and you think “perhaps you mean tactics …” but then think perhaps you’re being pedantic?
